Mars and Beyond: Muks Robotics Unveils Prototype for New Humanoid Robot, Spaceo Prime

There is seldom a time when a company receives an order for a product, even before it’s released publicly. That’s the story of Spaceo Prime: Prototype-01, which was unveiled last Friday by Pune, India-headquartered Muks Robotics.

Spaceo Prime: Prototype-01 is the prototype of its bipedal humanoid robot, which was built in just two months, said Dr Mukesh Bangar, Founder, CEO and CTO of Muks Robotics.

“Even before the final product was ready, we received our first customer order. That confidence motivated our team to move faster than ever,” he wrote in a LinkedIn post without revealing the client name.

The manufacturer built the “Prime” prototype on its existing Spaceo Pro platform to validate the concept quickly.

Bangar continued, “Many people say it looks like Chappie, and honestly, we can see the resemblance. But this is only the beginning. This is an engineering prototype, built to test ideas, not to showcase the final design.”

Founded in 2021, Muks Robotics stands for Machine Understanding & Knowledge Synthesis. The startup is building enterprise humanoids to address labour shortages, automate dangerous and repetitive tasks, as well as “enable humanity’s expansion to Mars and beyond”.

The startup’s robots are powered by its in-house physical AI model, FusionMax—a 2-billion-parameter Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) Audio-Vision-Language-Action model—which helps the Spaceo humanoid robots operate reliably in the real world by combining autonomy, intelligence, and precision.

“A world-class humanoid isn’t built in one attempt. It is built through 100+ iterations of testing, learning, redesigning, and improving. That’s how we built Spaceo M1. That’s how we’ll build Spaceo Prime,” said the CEO, who believes autonomous humanoids will become humanity’s greatest tool.

Before dabbling in the robotics space, Muks Robotics had launched an AI-based OS for Android, as well as initiated its AI vision platform, DeepVisionPro, in 2022.

In 2024, the company started developing Spaceo M1 Gen 1 and Gen 2 robots, which it calls “The Social Humanoid”. With a 12-month warranty period and about 8 hours of battery runtime, the robot is commercially available.

Its use cases include surveillance support, visitor registration, meet-and-greet, guidance and navigation, and process explanations, which can be deployed at airports, malls, hotels, cafes, and educational centres. Muks Robotics also ran a pilot with Emirates Airlines at ForsaTEK in 2025, which is listed as a client for this model.

Last year, the company also launched its Spaceo Pro Gen 1 publicly at a media event. Reports suggest that the industrial humanoid has a massive 200 kg of payload capacity and can lift up to 10 kg per arm. It finds its use cases in manufacturing and industrial operations, logistics and warehousing, and inspection work.

Robot24.com’s internal research team has mapped close to six Indian robotics startups, of which five have created humanoids for industrial use cases. However, none, except for Muks Robotics, are claiming to send their humanoids to “Mars and beyond.”

Given that Spaceo Prime: Prototype 01 was built in just two months, it’s still in the early stages of understanding what the humanoid can actually do. Robot24.com will closely track its development to understand the humanoid’s use cases for space exploration.
