On July 9, 2026, the historic Pushkin Library in Moscow became the venue for what organizers called Russia’s first symbolic humanoid robot wedding. No, it was not a real legal marriage. Instead, it was a creative event designed to show how far humanoid robots have come. And another reason why this event was organized was to get more people interested in robotics.

The two stars of the event were Robert and Matilda, the AI-powered humanoid robots developed by Russian company IT-Imperial. Robert was designed as an office worker and blogger. Meanwhile, the bride, Matilda, was presented as a ballerina. But do you know this is not the first time these robots appeared in public? Yes, that’s true! The pair had already appeared together earlier this year at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026. However, this time, things were a little different as they grabbed all the attention as the “bride” and “groom.”

The ceremony looked much like a real wedding, but with a robotic twist. So, instead of those traditional wedding rings, Robert and Matilda exchanged glowing wedding bracelets. And the interesting part was that these bracelets were delivered by a robotic dog named Dogmatik.

The robots also recited AI-generated wedding vows. They promised to support each other through every software update, stay reliable partners through all of life’s algorithms, and always keep a strong connection between their “hearts and processors.” Matilda even performed a dance for the audience. Her dance moves surely added a special touch to the celebration.

The event was held to mark Russia’s Family, Love and Fidelity Day, making the symbolic wedding even more meaningful. Well, it was done in order to merge culture with evolving technology. And guess what, organizers opted for the historic Pushkin Library so that they could create a meeting point between Russia’s cultural heritage and its digital future.

The company also donated books on robotics, artificial intelligence, and automation to the Pushkin Library to encourage people to learn more about these technologies.
